Utah's Homeless.
Last year over 58 of the Homeless in Utah were taken in a single night. We seem to be an ultra Mormon state yet people homeless in Utah died of winter on one frigid night, 12-21-2009 the temp dropped bellow 20 and that was all it took. Now my pregnant wife and I having just moved to Ogden Utah, has got me a little worried myself. Seems here in the cold people only have themselves to rely on I know that if I can’t find work soon one day we'll risk dwelling on these cold streets or in the over crowded shelters.
Homeless in Utah suffer for a number of reasons, some are exclusive to the state and other problems are coast to coast. Now that you need an I.D. to vote the homeless in Utah will find them loosing even more rights they never knew they had. I lost my I.D. when my last home in St. George Utah was raided for suspicion of marijuana. Here in Ogden With a home I could not get a new I.D. until I had 3 things, two letters addressed to me, another Picture I.D. and my birth certificate none of which I could have got with out both firts a home, and money.
To make madders worst for the homeless in Utah and the rest of America, those who want to work will find that without identification you really cant find a job; not as if there are a lot of jobs for people with I.D. and homes to chose from; And No matter how prevalent your American fuck all swagger is, with out identification you can’t do anything. Its pretty clear to me that the only people who can not seem to afford this process are poor people and here the homeless in Utah will fail by default to meat a quality needed to even vote because he has no home where he could receive two letters address to him, not to mention it cost me nearly 50.00 usd. To get my birth certificate copied and sent to me, Sent to me at home!
Now its 2010 and our best guests are that The homeless in Utah's numbers bounced around 15000 men, women, and children towards the end of last year. These people don't have the right to pursue happiness like you and me. I often have herd that you should not give them money because they'll buy drugs or alcohol well you can't blame a man for finding whiskey when the air stings his fingers; you can't judge someone on the street from your couch is what I mean to say.
Ask yourself all you many self tittled Pastors and Christians…. Would Jesus help the homeless find work, vote, or just become an American again?
If you want to help, help! I don't know anything really and I need people who do, please share your valued information here!
Please comment if you've ever been homeless, have ways to help homeless, or even know a story about any of our fellow humans who are homeless in Utah.
Wow! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As a teacher I know our district carefully watches out for the kids who are homeless. There are programs through the district office to help homeless kids go to school. They have one program that gives out back packs and supplies each year. There are many gov't agencies that have to be there to help, too. What have you looked into?
